*BLINK* and it is over....

I can without a doubt say that this was the best summer ever for this group of boys. They started out in a bunch of mixed up color uniforms just getting to know each other, and then they ended in matching dirty uniforms with their arms wrapped around each others necks and big (mostly toothless) grins! We had our first practice on May 4 and then practiced for a total of 72 plus hours over the next three months. We played a total of 33 games. We traveled to Ringgold, Ga on July 19th for our World Series not knowing what to expect, or how long we would even be there. We ended up playing eight games and winning second in our bracket and third out of twenty-two teams. We also ended with a winning World Series record of 5 wins and 3 loses. It was definitely a great success and a ton of fun for the boys and their families!

We were lucky, because most summer all star teams seasons end with their World Series, but we were able to participate in the 6U Hickory Flat All Star Tournament. We were excited to get to play together as a team one last time! We weren't playing our best the first two games of the tournament, but still managed one win. Then once brackets started we were back on our game! We won our first bracket game and then ended up losing our second, and unfortunately with single elimination that meant we were done. It was rumored around the park that at least one team was bending the rules of the tournament. They were playing players that had played at a higher level during the all star season, and one player was suppose to be from their 7 year old all star team. Although, we didn't let that get us down, because we had such a strong solid team with an ethical coaching staff who were providing good role models for our very impressionable boys! We ended with our heads held high and smiles on our faces!

As always, all the great pictures were taken by Wendy Morrison. Thank you Wendy!

What an amazing experience we all shared, and we wouldn't change one win or lose, because the boys learned so much from the whole experience!

Thanks you so much for all your support for the 2013 6U Hobgood Hurricanes, we loved every minute!

GOODBYE!

World Series or BUST!

Well, we had another fun weekend of baseball! Even with our first encounter with You Tube worthy crazy fans, we still managed to have fun and play well! We also started our new walk on music for the boys this weekend, and it definitely put a little extra bounce in their steps as they walked to the plate. There was a whole lot of boys Booming, Winning, Shaking, Thunder Striking, Mama Rocking, Crazy Training and Thrift Shopping! If the last sentenced made you wrinkle your forehead and say "Huh!", then come see us play this weekend at the Rick Honeycutt World Series in Ringgold, GA, and we will have you "Thrift Shopping" out of your seat!

Here are some of the pictures taken by our team photographer Wendy Morrison, she is also available for Weddings and Bat Mitzvahs. ; )

Waiting for their first game to start.

Last minute advice from Dad.

Well, we are World Series bound this weekend! After a summer of tournaments, we have finally reached the grand finale of games. The boys are very excited about the games, but nothing will top that hotel pool! We will be going to Chattanooga,TN on Friday for opening ceremonies and some fun pin trading. Saturday we will play our first pool play game at 10am against Snow Hill Hawks and then our second game is at 11:20 against LFO Black. We will have back to back games on the same field and be done by 12:30. We won't know our Sunday schedule until Saturday night. I added the link to the Rick Honeycutt World Series at the top of the this page, so if anyone wants to they can keep up with our schedule. It is just a click away!

Thank you everyone for all your support this summer, it wouldn't have been nearly as fun without all of you that have cheered us on!

"We Got a Hit, a Rip, a Run and a Score!!!

Ding Dong the losing streak is dead!!

What a great weekend for Hobgood Hurricanes! We were at Harmon fields in Canton this weekend playing in the State All Star Championship Tournament. Since State Tournaments are divided up by the District Tournament results for each team, we were able to shake a few of the A teams that like to go to tournaments that include B-C teams. I suppose that those A teams are just out to get as many trophies as they can, without working too hard to get them. It was much more fun to watch a game where you know we have an equal chance of winning!

We started our bracket playing Bartow County. They were a very good team, but still not impossible to beat. We were looking good and making plays, but we were unable to get ahead and lost our first game. We decided to go home eat and change our uniforms for luck, before our second game at 4:30.

I took the pictures below from everyone's facebook photos, so they are all different crazy sizes.

Gavin is blasting to first like a rocket!

Kyle is tagging out the lead runner!

Michael and Dylan were refueling at Williamson Brothers! Yummy!

Our next game was against Sharon Spring Silver. We looked amazing! We were making plays and rounding the bases like pros! We ended our Saturday with a MUCH needed win. We all left with the plan to wear our now winning uniforms again Sunday and for none of the boys to shave! ;) We went home Saturday with GREAT hope and excitement for our 11am game on Sunday morning.

Gavin going in for a landing!

Aiden is getting his helmet on and getting ready for a rally!

Everyone was up bright and early Sunday, and ready to play ball! We played the Macedonia Blue. Everyone must have been well rested and ate a good breakfast, because they were able to pull out a second win! We were on a roll now!

Aiden waiting for the go ahead signal!

Nathan is game ready!

Robbie has his game face on and is ready for the first pitch!

Daniel making the other team work hard!

Collins is ready to go as soon as the coach gives him the sign!

Michael is ready to react as soon as the ball leaves the bat!

Good game All Stars!

Woo Hoo! Here we go again! Now we just needed to all go home and eat the same lunch as the day before and hurry back for game four! Next up was Macedonia Green, and we were READY! There are no words to describe the excitement of this game! Our boys played their hearts out and were hitting and running like crazy! This game came down to who was the home team and who had the advantage of being up to bat last. Unfortunately, it wasn't us! We lost 24-25. I have no doubt that if we had been up last we would have come ahead, because we did every other inning. Although, this loss didn't bring us down, because the boys played with everything they could and it was so much FUN to watch!

Watch out for Kyle, he will tag you or throw you out at the base!

Austin is ready and waiting!

Luke was our play maker at home this weekend!

Here they all are getting their Medals.

1 2 3 Go Canes!

A huge thank you to everyone who took pictures this weekend! Wendy Morrison of course for taking her 100 plus shots! It was much harder this week to decide what game each picture was from, since we wore the same color for three games! Ha!

After such a fun weekend of baseball, we are all looking forward to our next tournament the Hickory Flat Bash on July 5-7. Our first game is Saturday July, 6 at 9:25 on Thomas Field in Hickory Flat. We are ready for another great weekend of baseball!

Thank you all for your support!
